The story follows Norman and Paul, who have drifted apart over the years. Paul is a newspaperman and gambler facing personal challenges, while Norman seeks to mend their fractured relationship and reconnect with their family values and heritage. Their poignant journey culminates in a final fishing trip with their father, serving as a metaphor for love, loss, and familial roles.

Opera Team and Cast

The operatic adaptation features the musical talents of composer Zach Redler, with a libretto crafted by Matt Foss and Kelley Rourke, utilizing Maclean’s original text. The world premiere will be conducted by Opera Montana’s Artistic Director, Michael Sakir, who also collaborates with Foss as the stage director.
