The 23rd Kleintje Interland shuffleboard tournament took place on January 17th at De Treffers in Klazienaveen. This annual event showcases the top 20 shuffleboard players from Northeast Netherlands competing against their counterparts from Lower Saxony, Germany. In a remarkable turn of events, Northeast Netherlands claimed victory this year.

The tournament format entails two initial rounds, each consisting of 10 boards. Players are paired with opponents based on their performance after the first round. In the second round, competitors aim to score higher than their counterparts to accrue points.

  • A perfect score in matches results in a 20-0 win.

After the first round, Northeast Netherlands led with 217 points, while Lower Saxony trailed with 163 points. In the subsequent round, known as round three, which follows the same 20-2 scoring system used in the World Championships, Lower Saxony managed to win with a score of 195 to 185. However, this was insufficient to overcome the initial deficit.

The final score for the tournament was Northeast Netherlands at 402 points, defeating Lower Saxony’s 358 points.
