Buccaneers Hire Zac Robinson, Ending Eagles’ Offensive Coordinator Search

In a significant move, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have appointed Zac Robinson as their new offensive coordinator. This development comes as the Philadelphia Eagles continue their search for the same position, now in its second week. Robinson previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.

Zac Robinson’s Background

Robinson’s contract with the Falcons allowed him to explore other opportunities after the dismissal of coach Raheem Morris. Despite being under contract, he was permitted to interview with other teams, including the Buccaneers.

Coaching Experience

Robinson has a solid background in coaching. Prior to his time in Atlanta, he was the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Rams for two seasons. His experience aligns with coaching philosophies derived from notable figures like Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan.

Success with the Falcons

During his tenure as the Falcons’ play-caller, Robinson helped develop key players such as Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts. In his first season (2024), the Falcons achieved impressive statistics, finishing:

  • 6th in the NFL in net yards per game with an average of 369.8
  • 8th in yards per play at 5.79
  • 5th in passing yards per game with 239.3
  • 10th in rushing yards per game, averaging 130.5

The following season, the Falcons faced challenges when starting quarterback Michael Penix was injured. Kirk Cousins stepped in, and the team still managed to rank:

  • 14th in yards per game (333.0)
  • 8th in rushing yards per game (125.8)

Now, with Robinson at the helm in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers are looking forward to revitalizing their offensive strategy as they embark on a new season.
