Channing Tatum and Amy Adams Compete at Berlin Film Festival

The Berlin International Film Festival has released its lineup for 2026, showcasing an engaging collection of films suitable for arthouse audiences. This year’s 76th Berlinale will occur from February 12 to 22. Notably, the competition will lack big Hollywood productions, possibly affecting its overall glamor. Nevertheless, festival director Trica Tuttle expressed confidence in the diverse lineup of 22 films across multiple genres.

Highlighting the 2026 Berlinale Lineup

Tuttle described the films as a representation of cinema’s richness, stating, “If you don’t find something here to love, you don’t love cinema!” Among the titles vying for the prestigious Golden Bear award are:

  • At the Sea – Directed by Kornél Mundruczó, starring Amy Adams and Dan Levy. The film follows a sober woman confronting her past.
  • Josephine – A thriller directed by Beth de Araújo featuring Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan.
  • Queen at Sea – A dementia drama featuring Juliette Binoche and Tom Courtenay, directed by Lance Hammer.
  • Rosebush Pruning – An English-language thriller from Karim Aïnouz starring stars like Jamie Bell and Elle Fanning.
  • Rose – A 17th-century transgender drama by Markus Schleinzer featuring Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller.

Notable Features and Perspectives

Except for “Josephine,” which heads to Berlin from Sundance, all films in the main competition will have their world premieres at the event. Another anticipated entry is “Nightborn,” a thriller featuring Rupert Grint, where a family faces unexpected challenges.

Additional standouts in competition include:

  • Yellow Letters – From German director İlker Çatak.
  • Wolfram – A 1930s outback drama from Warwick Thornton.
  • We Are All Strangers – Directed by Anthony Chen, known for his Cannes success with “Ilo Ilo.”
  • Everybody Digs Bill Evans – A documentary film on jazz pianist Bill Evans, directed by Grant Gee.

The Berlinale Jury and Future Talents

This year’s jury is led by iconic German filmmaker Wim Wenders. The panel will award the festival’s Gold and Silver Bears. Tuttle also announced 13 features in the Perspectives sidebar aimed at showcasing emerging talents, including several debut films highlighting diverse narratives.

With a robust and eclectic program, the Berlinale aims to attract cinephiles and industry professionals, reaffirming its reputation as a leading festival in the international film landscape.
