Noem Criticizes Anchor for Allegedly Revealing ICE Agent’s Identity

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem recently criticized CBS News’ “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan for allegedly revealing the identity of an ICE agent. During an interview, Noem took issue with Brennan naming Jonathan Ross, an agent involved in a controversial shooting incident in Minneapolis.

Noem Condemns Disclosure of ICE Agent’s Name

The incident pertains to a shooting involving ICE agent Jonathan Ross on January 6, 2026, where he shot and killed Renee Good. According to the Trump administration, Ross acted in self-defense as Good allegedly used her vehicle as a weapon against him.

Video footage has surfaced showing Good attempting to flee the scene while Ross continued to fire into her vehicle even after moving out of the way. During the interview, Brennan attempted to inquire if Ross had returned to work in Minneapolis, directly mentioning his name.

Concerns About Doxxing Law Enforcement

Noem swiftly interrupted Brennan, stating, “Let me talk to you about the officer, Jonathan Ross. Well, don’t say his name. For heaven’s sakes, we shouldn’t have people continue to dox law enforcement.” Brennan maintained that since Ross’s name is public, it could be discussed.

Noem, however, maintained her stance, asserting that revealing the names of law enforcement officers posed risks to their safety. She noted, “He got attacked with a car that was trying to take his life. People have attacked him and his family.”

No Apologies for Controversial Tactics

Later in the interview, Noem was asked whether she would apologize for the detention of Aliya Rahman and the use of tear gas against a family with an infant during a confrontation involving protesters. Noem defended the actions, claiming that the family was inadvertently caught up in a dangerous situation created by aggressive protesters.

  • Noem blamed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for the violence that led to the incident.
  • She emphasized, “The mayor and the governor have allowed this kind of violence to be perpetuated across Minneapolis.”

The exchange encapsulates the tension surrounding law enforcement policies in Minneapolis, particularly amidst ongoing protests and community responses.
