Mastering Park City: Navigate the Final Sundance Film Festival
The Sundance Film Festival takes place in Park City from January 22 to February 1. This year, attendees will find new restrictions in place as part of an effort to manage traffic and access in the area.
Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures
Main Street will be closed to vehicles from the top of Main Street to 7th Street beginning at 11 a.m. on January 22, lasting until January 26. This is the second time that Old Town will implement extended closures during the festival, following a successful pilot in the previous year.
Additional road restrictions include:
- Only residents will have access to Hillside Avenue.
- Park Avenue will operate as a one-way street, directing traffic downhill.
- Swede Alley is restricted to those with residential passes or ADA placards.
Officials urge both residents and visitors not to navigate through residential areas to minimize disturbances. Enhanced security will be present to prevent unauthorized cut-through traffic.
Parking Information for Sundance
Parking during Sundance will be limited, with several closures already in effect:
- Bob Wells Plaza and the Brew Pub Lot are closed until the festival’s conclusion.
- Partial closure of the North Marsac Parking Lot is in place from January 21 to February 1.
- Park Avenue parking will be closed from Heber Avenue to 9th Street from January 22 to February 1.
- Main Street, Heber Avenue, and Swede Alley parking restrictions are from January 22 to January 27.
Employees can park with permits in designated areas, including Flagpole and North Marsac lots, as well as the Gateway Center. For visitors, paid parking is available at the China Bridge garage, with specific pricing:
| Date | Parking Rate |
|---|---|
| January 22 | $40 (flat fee) |
| January 23-24 | $50 (flat fee) |
| January 25-27 | $30 (flat fee) |

Public Transit Options
Due to limited parking, officials are encouraging the use of free public transportation. Free parking is available at Richardson Flat Park-and-Ride, located near U.S. 40. Buses run every 15 minutes from 6:40 a.m. to 2 a.m., providing regular service between Richardson Flat and the Old Town Transit Center.
Additionally, parking is available at Deer Valley Resort lots 5 and 6, and Park City Mountain Village during the hours of 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily. Park City Transit connects these parking lots directly to Old Town, with drop-off zones on lower Main Street and Marsac Avenue.
