Gasser Aims for Laax Slopestyle Glory in Final World Cup Before Milano Cortina
Anna Gasser, the accomplished two-time Olympic Big Air gold medalist from Austria, will return to competition at the Slopestyle World Cup in Laax, Switzerland. This event marks her first appearance since recovering from a shoulder injury sustained during the off-season. Gasser joins a competitive field of 95 riders, eager to showcase their skills on the iconic Laax slopestyle course.
Event Details
The Laax Open is scheduled for January 16, 2025. This competition serves as the second Slopestyle World Cup event in the 2025/26 FIS Park & Pipe season. After the season opener held in Aspen, competitors are now poised for the challenges ahead in Laax. Notably, this event is also the final opportunity for athletes to compete before the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Gasser’s Road to Recovery
Gasser’s participation in Laax comes after missing the beginning of the Big Air World Cup season in November. Her primary focus during that time was to heal from a dislocated shoulder. This injury, unfortunately, kept her sidelined for several months.
Past Performances
Last year, Gasser finished fourth at the Laax Open, a departure from her historical performances. Since 2022, she had consistently finished on the Laax podium. Her previous records include a runner-up finish and two third places in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Gasser made her Laax debut in 2017, where she also placed second.
Looking Ahead
As Gasser prepares to compete, there is much anticipation surrounding her performance. Fans are eager to see if she can reclaim her spot among the top ranks as the World Cup tour resumes after the Olympic Games in March.
