Buffalo Bills Running Backs Earn AP All-Pro Distinction

In a notable achievement for the Buffalo Bills, running backs James Cook and Ray Davis were recognized as All-Pros by the Associated Press. This distinction was announced on Saturday, with Cook earning a spot on the second-team as a running back. Davis secured first-team honors in the kick returner category, underscoring significant contributions to the Bills’ performance in the 2025 season.

James Cook’s Exceptional Season

James Cook had a remarkable year, leading the NFL with 1,621 rushing yards. This accomplishment not only secured him his first career rushing title but also marked a historic moment as he became the first Bills player to achieve this feat since O.J. Simpson in 1976.

Notable Statistics

  • 1,621 rushing yards (NFL leader)
  • 12 rushing touchdowns (5th in the NFL)
  • 291 receiving yards
  • 2 receiving touchdowns
  • Total of 1,912 yards and 14 touchdowns

In addition to his leading rushing yards, Cook ranked first in the league in yards before contact, accumulating 519 yards. The first-team running back title went to Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons, who achieved a total of 2,298 yards.

Ray Davis’s Impact on Special Teams

Ray Davis also made a significant mark this season, contributing primarily through his kick return abilities. He averaged 30.4 yards per return, leading the NFL among players with at least 20 attempts. His one kick return touchdown tied for the league lead.

Recognition in Midseason

Remarkably, Davis began returning kicks for the Bills only in Week 9. His coach, Sean McDermott, praised him for embracing this role and seizing opportunities as they arose. “He’s taken a lot of pride in doing well,” McDermott noted.

Buffalo Bills: A Leading Force in Playoff Football

As the playoffs approach, the Bills are positioned strongly with the NFL’s top rushing attack, averaging 159.6 yards per game. The combination of Cook’s running prowess and Davis’s explosive kick returning could be pivotal for the team in their wild-card matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
