Atari Hotel Las Vegas Project Cancelled

Atari’s ambitious plans to establish a themed hotel in Las Vegas have officially been cancelled. Initially announced in January 2020, the project aimed to celebrate both classic and modern video game culture. However, six years later, no hotels have been constructed.

Cancelled Atari Hotel Las Vegas Project

The Las Vegas Sun reported that Atari had explored developing a location in Las Vegas during 2020 and 2021. Unfortunately, the deal did not materialize. Originally, the hotel was projected to contain around 400 rooms. A prominent Atari logo was to be featured prominently on the building’s exterior.

Delayed Updates and Other Locations

The last significant update regarding the Las Vegas hotel came in early 2024, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. At that time, Atari indicated that more information about the Las Vegas plan would be forthcoming by late 2024. However, this did not happen.

Although the Las Vegas project is now off the table, Atari has explored other locations for potential hotels. Cities under consideration included:

  • Austin, Texas
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • San Francisco, California
  • San Jose, California
  • Seattle, Washington

Of these, the Phoenix location appears to have the most potential. In December 2025, Atari showcased renderings of a proposed hotel in Phoenix. This hotel, featuring 72 rooms—an homage to Atari’s founding year of 1972—is set to be constructed near Central Avenue and Roosevelt Street, with an anticipated completion by late 2026.

Future Prospects for Atari Hotels

Atari aims to create a unique experience with a playable hotel concept designed for gamers. The company released a teaser trailer on YouTube that outlines their vision while also appealing to potential investors.

Despite the excitement, those hoping to visit an Atari hotel soon may need to temper their expectations. According to the timeline on AtariHotels.com, final construction and the grand opening are not scheduled until the fourth quarter of 2028.

As the situation stands, the dream of staying at an Atari-themed hotel will still take several years to become a reality. However, fans and developers remain hopeful for the future of the Atari hotel concept.
