Red Panda Returns to ITV’s The Masked Singer
Red Panda, a character from ITV’s popular show The Masked Singer, faced a sudden removal from the program earlier this month. This decision stemmed from concerns over potential insensitivities related to a tragic event in Switzerland.
Red Panda’s Removal from The Masked Singer
On January 3, ITV announced the unexpected withdrawal of Red Panda during the show’s first episode. The character, depicted as a furry firefighter, was made to step back due to a recent fire in a Swiss bar that resulted in 40 fatalities. An ITV spokesperson noted that the song’s theme and lyrics could be deemed insensitive in light of this tragedy.
The spokesperson remarked, “In light of the tragic events in Switzerland, we took the decision to remove Red Panda’s performance on The Masked Singer in tonight’s program owing to potential insensitivities.” Viewers were assured that Red Panda would still appear later in the season.
Introduction of Red Panda
In a recent social media teaser, Red Panda introduced themselves with a playful twist. “Hi, I’m Red Panda, furry firefighter extraordinaire reporting for duty,” the character said in a disguised voice. Clips featuring various clues were also shared, including a box of dummies and a notable red envelope marked with “5 Rio Street, Birmingham.”
The clues were intended to spark guesses among fans and the show’s panelists, which include well-known personalities such as Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall.
Upcoming Episodes
The Masked Singer is set to continue its current season, with new episodes airing on January 24 starting at 7 PM on ITV1 and ITVX. Fans eagerly await the return of Red Panda and the chance to see what song the character will ultimately perform.
