Clippers Face Extensive Injury List Before Friday’s Raptors Showdown

The Los Angeles Clippers are currently locked in a battle for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference. With a record of 17-23, they face significant challenges as they gear up for their Friday match against the Toronto Raptors. A lengthy injury list could hamper their chances.

Clippers’ Injury Concerns Before Raptors Game

The Clippers will be without notable players for the matchup against the Raptors. The expected absences include:

  • Bradley Beal
  • Chris Paul
  • Derrick Jones Jr.
  • Bogdan Bogdanovic (injury management)

Additionally, three starters face uncertainty regarding their availability:

  • Kawhi Leonard – Out (ankle sprain)
  • Ivica Zubac – Questionable (ankle sprain)
  • John Collins – Questionable (groin soreness)

Kawhi Leonard’s Status

Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out for the game after dealing with an ankle sprain. He was previously able to play through the injury but has been limited to about 30 minutes of play in recent games. Leonard’s absence is a substantial loss for the Clippers.

Ivica Zubac and John Collins

Ivica Zubac remains a game-time decision after exiting early from Monday’s contest with an ankle sprain. If he cannot play, Brook Lopez is expected to start in his position. Rookie Yanic Konan Niederhauser would also see increased minutes if Zubac sits out.

John Collins, who experienced groin soreness during warm-ups prior to the last game, also appears uncertain. He missed the previous match against the Wizards, and if he is unavailable again, Kobe Sanders will likely enter the starting lineup.

Raptors’ Injury Troubles

The Toronto Raptors will not be at full strength either, missing key players in RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, and Ja’Kobe Walter. Additionally, starting point guard Immanuel Quickley and backup center Sandro Mamukelashvili are both questionable for the game against the Clippers.

The Raptors have been in good form lately, securing victories in five of their last seven games. They are currently vying for a better seed in the Eastern Conference, sitting just one game behind the No. 2 seed Boston Celtics.

As both teams contend with injury woes, Friday’s game will be critical for the Clippers as they seek to solidify their standing in the playoff race.
