Darius Garland’s Injury Update
Darius Garland will undergo further evaluation for his injury as the team returns to Cleveland this weekend. He experienced soreness in his right great toe, an ailment that he sustained late in the third quarter. Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson noted the player is in “great spirits” despite the injury. However, there is currently no specific timeline for his recovery.
Garland’s Health History
This recent injury raises concerns given Garland’s previous issues. Fortunately, he is not dealing with the same toe that required offseason surgery, which kept him off the court for the start of the 2025-26 season.
Sam Merrill’s Condition
Sam Merrill is also facing injury assessments after spraining his right hand during the same game. Fortunately, the severity of his condition appears to be less than before. Earlier this season, Merrill missed about a month due to a similar injury.

As the Cavaliers aim for a successful season, they have two days off before their next challenge. They will host the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder at Rocket Arena on Monday afternoon. A practice session is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, following Saturday’s off day.
The team currently has four inactive players, with Garland and Merrill joining Dean Wade, who is dealing with a knee contusion, and Max Strus, who is recovering from foot surgery.
