Teen Orchestrates Attack on Girlfriend’s Dad Over Missed Birthday Wishes
A recent case heard in Norwich Crown Court highlighted a violent incident involving a teenager and the father of his girlfriend. The attacker, Kaden Greer-Samuels, was 19 at the time of the assault, which took place on September 11, 2024. This altercation stemmed from a missed birthday wish that had upset Greer-Samuels’ girlfriend.
Background of the Incident
According to prosecutor Richard Paterson, the confrontation arose after the victim’s daughter expressed anger over her father failing to wish her a happy birthday. In response, Greer-Samuels arranged to meet the father at the Centrepoint car park, located in King’s Lynn’s Fairstead estate.
The Assault
On the day of the meeting, Greer-Samuels attended the location with two accomplices. He displayed aggressive behavior by taking a boxing stance. When the victim approached one of the other men, Greer-Samuels struck him in the face, leading to a brutal group attack. The attack resulted in the victim suffering serious injuries, including:
- Fractured eye socket
- Broken nose
The violent episode left the victim unconscious on the ground before the assailants fled the scene. Emergency services transported him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Lynn for treatment.
Impact on the Victim
The victim detailed his struggles following the assault, sharing that he has experienced both physical and mental trauma. Reports indicate that he has felt suicidal and is hesitant to leave his home, fearing retaliation for reporting the crime.
Court Proceedings
Kaden Greer-Samuels, who resides on the Trafford Estate in Walton Highway, appeared in court on Thursday, pleading guilty to wounding without intent. His lawyer, Rebecca Steels, described him as an “immature offender” with a history of ADHD, arguing that his role in the assault was limited and possibly self-defensive.
Sentencing
Recorder John Freeman handed down a sentence of 14 months youth detention, suspended for two years. In addition, Greer-Samuels was ordered to pay the victim £500 in compensation, complete 20 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, and perform 200 hours of community service. A five-year restraining order was also imposed, preventing any contact with the victim.
This case serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of violence, especially among youth, and the profound effects such incidents can have on victims and their families.
