Severe winter weather has led to widespread school closures across southern Manitoba due to icy roads and blowing snow. These dangerous conditions have resulted in poor visibility, prompting numerous educational institutions to suspend classes for safety reasons.
School Closures in Southern Manitoba
Several school divisions have announced complete closures for the day, including:

- Fort La Bosse
- Prairie Rose
- Prairie Spirit
- Red River Valley
- Turtle Mountain
The Franco-Manitoban School Division has shut down several specific schools, including:
- St-Jean-Baptiste
- Jours de Plaine (Laurier)
- École Aurèle-Lemoine (Saint-Laurent)
- École Saint-Lazare
Meanwhile, some schools such as École Sainte-Agathe and École Réal-Bérard (St-Pierre) remain open, although bus services have been canceled.

Environment Canada issued blowing snow advisories across many communities in southern Manitoba. Visibility in these areas is expected to drop to near-zero at times. According to meteorologists, conditions should gradually improve by Friday evening.
Northern Manitoba Weather Alerts
In the northern regions, blowing snow advisories remain in effect along with significant cold warnings. Wind chill temperatures can plummet to between –45 and –50 degrees Celsius, expected to last from Friday afternoon through Monday morning.
