Disneyland Expands Star Wars Timeline at Galaxy’s Edge

Disneyland is making exciting changes to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, expanding its timeline to include the original trilogy. Starting April 29, 2026, half of the park will feature characters and storylines from Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

Expanded Timeline at Galaxy’s Edge

The updated timeline will transform the Black Spire Outpost section of Galaxy’s Edge. Iconic characters such as Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker will greet guests on Batuu. This immersive experience aims to enhance guest interaction with beloved figures from the Star Wars saga.

Musical Enhancements

Accompanying the timeline shift, Disneyland will incorporate themes from John Williams’ original score. Guests can expect to hear familiar tracks as they explore:

  • Main Title
  • Force Theme
  • Han Solo and the Princess
  • The Emperor’s theme
  • Cantina Band track at Oga’s Cantina

These classic pieces will invite visitors into the immersive universe of Star Wars.

New Experiences and Attractions

The attractions will also be updated to reflect this new narrative. First Order Cargo will be rebranded as Black Spire Surplus, showcasing military artifacts from the Galactic Civil War. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will feature unique historical items that delve deeper into Star Wars lore.

Character Interactions

In the Droid Depot, guests will meet an earlier generation of the Mubo family, who will develop the BB style droid. This adds a personal story element that fans can connect with, bringing the experience to life.

Insights from the Creative Team

Doug Chiang, Senior Vice President and Executive Design Director at Lucasfilm, praised the Walt Disney Imagineering team’s commitment to storytelling. He stated that the updated timeline would enrich the Star Wars experience for fans. Each detail is carefully crafted to create authenticity in every corner of Galaxy’s Edge.

Community Speculation and Expert Predictions

Last year, our own Star Wars expert, Mike Celestino, predicted this timeline change, aligning it with hints dropped by Disney Imagineers. The addition of Luke Skywalker to the character lineup further fueled this speculation.

For visitors eager to experience this new chapter in Galaxy’s Edge, planning a trip in early 2026 will be essential. The changes will enhance Disneyland’s reputation as a premier destination for Star Wars enthusiasts.
