Disneyland Expands Galaxy’s Edge with Original ‘Star Wars’ Characters

Disneyland is set to enhance the Galaxy’s Edge experience by introducing iconic characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. Starting on April 29, visitors will encounter figures like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and Princess Leia in the immersive setting of Batuu.

Expansion of Galaxy’s Edge

This expansion will incorporate characters from the earliest Star Wars films released from 1977 to 1983. The addition aims to intertwine various timelines, showcasing significant events such as the Galactic Civil War, the era of the New Republic, and the subsequent Age of the Resistance and First Order.

  • Characters joining the experience:
    • Luke Skywalker
    • Darth Vader
    • Han Solo
    • Princess Leia

Authentic Star Wars Experience

The expansion will feature original musical scores composed by John Williams, adding authenticity to the Galaxy’s Edge environment. This will provide a rich backdrop as guests journey through the meticulously crafted land.

Since its grand opening in 2019, Galaxy’s Edge has included notable attractions like a life-size replica of the Millennium Falcon. The addition of original characters is a significant move for Disney, especially as they aim to leverage the nostalgic appeal of the Star Wars franchise.

Upcoming Productions

In addition to the characters at Galaxy’s Edge, the franchise continues to grow on other platforms. The Mandalorian, along with the popular character Grogu, is set to premiere in theaters on May 22.

This strategic expansion coincides with critical corporate developments within Disney. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, may take on additional responsibilities as discussions about CEO Bob Iger’s successor progress in the coming weeks.
