The Berlin Film Festival has made significant announcements for its 2026 lineup, creating excitement among film enthusiasts. The 76th Berlinale will take place from February 12 to 22, 2026, and this year’s highlights include a mix of high-profile premieres and intriguing narratives.

Berlinale Specials Program Revealed

The festival will include some notable international and European premieres in its Berlinale Specials program. Highlights include:

  • The Only Living Pickpocket in New York – Directed by Noah Segan, featuring John Turturro and Steve Buscemi.
  • The Weight – A drama directed by Padraic McKinley, starring Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe.
  • Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die – A sci-fi comedy by Gore Verbinski, featuring Sam Rockwell and Juno Temple.

Panorama Section Features Unique Perspectives

The Panorama section will showcase unique storytelling and feminist themes, including:

  • The Moment – A mockumentary featuring Charli XCX, directed by Aidan Zamiri.
  • Árru – The debut film by Sámi choreographer Elle Sofe Sara.
  • Roya – A new drama from Iranian filmmaker Mahnaz Mohammadi.

Exciting Feature Films and Documentaries

Among the anticipated films is The Blood Countess, directed by Ulrike Ottinger. This mystery thriller stars Isabelle Huppert as the infamous 16th-century Countess Elizabeth Báthory. It promises a unique and highbrow take on this well-known story.

Another highlight is Heysel 85 by Teodora Ana Mihai, which recounts the tragic Heysel Stadium disaster. This disaster resulted in 39 fatalities during a European Cup Final.
