SRAM Unveils Aero Disc Brakes, RED Cranks Update, and UDH with Type-C Charging

SRAM has introduced a comprehensive update across its road, triathlon, and time trial products, focusing on rider experience. This refresh features new Aero Disc Brakes, RED crankarm options, a refined Universal Derailleur Hanger, and a modern USB-C AXS battery charger.

New Aero Disc Brakes for Time Trial and Triathlon

The major highlight of SRAM’s update is the Aero Disc Brakes specially designed for time trial and triathlon bikes. This upgrade is long anticipated, as the previous S900 brake lever was not equipped to provide the best performance. The new levers are engineered to offer superior braking power with minimal lever effort.

  • Textured carbon levers enhance grip.
  • Reach adjust feature allows for custom hand fit.
  • Features SRAM’s Stealth-a-majig hose for easier internal routing.

The updated levers are compatible with existing SRAM service protocols and utilize the Bleeding Edge port. They also incorporate SRAM’s flat-mount calipers and are designed to work with the Paceline series rotors.

Disc Brake Models and Pricing

Model Features Price (USD)
RED E1 Aero Disc Brake Carbon lever, alloy hardware, updated calipers $310
Force E1 Aero Disc Brake Alloy lever, updated sculpted caliper $250
Rival E1 Aero Disc Brake Basic alloy lever, offers essential performance $210

RED Crankarms: Shorter and Lighter

SRAM is now offering RED E1 crankarms in lengths as short as 150mm. This change caters to the growing preference for shorter cranks, particularly among time trial specialists aiming for better aerodynamics and pedaling efficiency.

  • Weights are reduced by 29 grams compared to previous versions.
  • Compatible with both standard and wide DUB road spindles.
  • Offers options for 1x and 2x drivetrains.

The pricing for the RED crankarms starts at $440, with lengths available from 150mm to 175mm.

Universal Derailleur Hanger Updates

SRAM has refreshed its Universal Derailleur Hanger for 2026, adding a silver bolt and washer option. This hanger maintains its cross-brand compatibility and functionality, providing crash protection and chain re-railing features.

USB-C Charging for AXS

A significant improvement to SRAM’s electronic ecosystem is the integration of USB-C for the AXS battery charger. This new charger can fully charge in approximately 60 minutes. SRAM has also removed the included cable to cut down on packaging waste, recognizing that many riders already possess USB-C cables.

All these products are set to be officially available starting February 2026, enhancing SRAM’s offerings for both amateur and professional cyclists.
