Framework has recently announced a price increase for its desktop PCs due to an ongoing global RAM shortage. This adjustment comes shortly after the company raised the prices of its RAM modules.
New Pricing for Framework Desktops
The Framework Desktop model featuring 32GB of RAM and an AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 chip now retails for $1,139, up from $1,099. This change reflects the rising costs of LPDDR5x memory from suppliers.
Additional Price Changes
Higher RAM configurations have also seen a price hike:
- 64GB RAM variant: Increased from $1,599 to $1,639
- 128GB RAM option: Increased from $1,999 to $2,459
Reasons for the Price Increase
Framework stated on X that they tried to delay the adjustments as long as possible. However, the substantial increase in memory costs necessitated the latest price updates. The company emphasized that they are only raising prices enough to cover increased costs.
Future Price Adjustments
In December, Framework hinted at the likelihood of further price increases. They indicated a revisit of module prices might occur within the upcoming month due to continuing supply chain challenges.
