Threat Mail Warns of RDX Attack on Delhi Assembly Linked to Tamil Nadu Polls
Two threatening emails arrived at the Delhi assembly on Monday. They warned of blasts using 15 cyanide gas-filled RDX bombs.
The messages were sent to the official Vidhan Sabha Secretariat email and to Speaker Vijender Gupta’s inbox. Both emails were written in Hindi and carried identical content.
The subject line demanded the evacuation of only Muslim staff within three hours. It explicitly threatened to “blow up the Vidhan Sabha” if demands were unmet.
The threat mail named S V Shekhar and accused him of being sent to South India as a “BJP Brahmin agent.” It also targeted Brahmins associated with the DMK, linking the warning to Tamil Nadu politics.
Filmogaz.com accessed one of the emails. The message referenced the upcoming Tamil Nadu polls and contained derogatory instructions for party members.
Security breach at the assembly
The threats came days after a separate security breach at the Delhi legislative complex. A masked man drove through Gate 2, a gate used for VIP access.
The accused was identified as Sarabjit Singh from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. He parked a Tata Sierra, placed a bouquet on the Speaker’s car, and then left the premises.
Police detained Singh following the incident. His family said he had been trying to meet a minister to locate a missing nephew.
Tamil Nadu election context
Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 23. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
Main contenders include the ruling DMK and the AIADMK. A new player, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is also in the race.
Probe and security response
Authorities detained the man involved in the gate breach and are investigating the bomb threats. Agencies are examining any possible links between the security lapse and the threat mail.
The RDX attack warning has raised fresh security concerns at the Delhi Assembly. Officials are assessing personnel safety and reviewing protocols ahead of further developments.
