Jet2 Warns Passengers of Potential 2-3 Hour Delays, Raising Flight Concerns

Jet2 has offered guidance after a customer raised concerns about long passport control queues. Filmogaz.com reports the carrier said extra processing could add time at some European airports.

What the passenger asked

The query came via X from Elaine Durrington. She asked when to arrive for a Faro to Liverpool flight on 19 April.

She said she had no hold luggage. Her worry was queues at passport control that might cause missed departures.

Airline response

Jet2 told her its check-in desks open two hours and thirty minutes before scheduled departure. Passengers may check in from that time.

The airline added there is no strict rule on arrival times. In most cases, arriving two to three hours before departure lets passengers pass straight through security.

If travellers arrive much earlier, they may need to wait landside until boarding approaches. Jet2 said it would contact customers by SMS or email if congestion is expected.

EU Entry/Exit System and likely effects

From spring 2026, the European Entry/Exit System will introduce biometric border checks. Travellers from outside the EU, including UK nationals, must register fingerprints and have photos taken.

Airlines warn these new steps could lengthen queues while the checks are completed. Jet2 cautioned that the extra processing could add time, prompting flight concerns for some passengers.

Practical advice for travellers

  • Go to bag drop as soon as it opens.
  • Proceed through security promptly.
  • Head to your gate when boarding is announced.

Jet2 maintains airport information and FAQs on its website. More detailed guidance on the EU Entry/Exit System is available via GOV.UK.
