Welsh School Choir Amazes Britain’s Got Talent Judges
A boys choir from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf in Cardiff won unanimous approval on Britain’s Got Talent. They sang “Never Enough” on the ITV episode aired on 11 April 2026.
The performance
The choir closed the show with a powerful rendition of the song from The Greatest Showman. Their performance at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens prompted a standing ovation.
All four judges pressed yes and the group advanced to the semi-final stage. The audience and hosts rose to applaud at the end.
Choirmaster and surprise reveal
The group’s conductor, Lloyd Macey, has a history on reality TV. He previously competed on The X Factor in 2017, reaching the semi-finals under Louis Walsh’s mentorship.
Macey arranged a surprise for the pupils. They had been led to believe they were unveiling a statue before being told they would sing on the ITV show.
Journey and school details
The choir comprises boys aged between 11 and 18. Around 70 pupils travelled by coach for about six hours to reach the venue.
Headteacher Matthew Evans watched from the audience and celebrated the result. Video footage later showed the pupils leaving the theatre beaming with pride.
Judges’ response
Simon Cowell described feeling emotional and praised the musical leadership. He shook hands with Lloyd and congratulated the group on a strong performance.
Amanda Holden told the choir they had done Wales proud. Alesha Dixon singled out Lloyd as a commanding and inspiring leader.
KSI made a light-hearted joke referencing a schoolyard gesture before commending the boys. The judges’ praise left the choir heading to the next round with unanimous support.
