Three Arrested in Alleged ‘Kill Car’ Chase in Western Sydney

Three men were taken into custody after a police pursuit in Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon. The chase involved an alleged “kill car” and ended in Lidcombe.

Pursuit and arrest

Raptor Squad detectives tried to stop an allegedly stolen Audi on the Great Western Highway in Wentworthville. The attempt occurred at about 2pm on Saturday.

Police reported occupants threw fuel jerry cans and bleach containers from the vehicle during the chase. Officers rammed the Audi along Hill Road in Lidcombe, forcing it to stop.

After the car stopped, the men fled on foot. Footage obtained by Filmogaz.com shows one man being detained beneath the motorway where the Audi was intercepted.

PolAir and the Dog Squad assisted ground units. All three suspects were arrested a short time later.

Items recovered and vehicle history

Police searching the car seized a semi-automatic rifle, a pistol and cloned number plates. Authorities allege the Audi was configured as a “kill car”.

The vehicle was reported stolen from an address at Edmonson Park in March. Kill cars are often stolen well before being used, police say.

Suspects and charges

Authorities charged three men: Dean Saunders, 28, and two 24-year-olds, Ethan Mclaws and Chayce Jensen. They made no bail applications in the Bail Division Local Court on Sunday.

  • Possession of an unregistered and prohibited firearm.
  • Possession of an unregistered and unauthorised pistol in public.
  • Possession of ammunition without a licence or permit.
  • Participating in a criminal group and contributing to criminal activity.

Saunders, identified as the alleged driver, faces two extra charges. Those include driving a conveyance taken without consent and police pursuit-related driving offences.

Saunders also had two outstanding warrants for assault and domestic violence. Mclaws and Jensen were charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without consent.

Court next steps

All three remain in custody. They are due to reappear at Parramatta Local Court on April 29.
