MCU Series Returns for Season 2 After 6-Month Hiatus
Marvel’s head of television, Brad Winterbaum, has confirmed that Marvel Zombies will return for a second season. He revealed the news during a recent appearance on The Escape Pod podcast.
Renewal and production status
Winterbaum said production on Season 2 is already underway. He also noted he has seen the first animatic for episode one.
He described the animatic as delivering on the zombie premise. He added it features an MCU element not previously attempted.
How Season 1 led to a follow-up
The first season closed on a major cliffhanger in 2025. A zombified Wanda Maximoff rose as a “Queen of the Dead” and defeated several surviving heroes.
Ms. Marvel was trapped in an illusion that seemed like a healed world. Riri Williams later revealed she survived and snapped Kamala back to reality.
Context within Marvel’s TV strategy
Marvel has shifted toward multi-season shows and traditional showrunners. Wonder Man is another series confirmed for two seasons.
At the same time, Marvel has kept flexibility with one-off specials. Projects such as The Punisher: One Last Kill and Marvel Zombies blurred those lines.
Comments from Winterbaum and renewal conditions
In a September 2025 interview with IGN, Winterbaum said the universe could support more stories. He suggested Season 2 might expand the scope beyond the initial tale.
He also tied a green light to Disney+ viewership. According to him, strong streaming numbers would accelerate work on a new season.
Creative stakes and possible directions
Winterbaum has argued zombie stories rarely end happily. That remark raises questions about how the series might continue.
Wider cosmic stakes remain possible if Earth’s quarantine fails. In the comics, the zombie virus even reaches beings like Galactus.
What to expect next
Fans should watch for the first episode animatic to hint at the show’s direction. Winterbaum promised surprises tied to the broader MCU.
After a six-month hiatus, the MCU series returns with Season 2 momentum. Filmogaz.com will follow developments and report on new updates.
