The Saturday afternoon session of the 196th Annual General Conference took place at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City on April 4, 2026.

Leaders used the gathering to announce leadership changes and present talks to attendees.

Leadership changes announced

President D. Todd Christofferson said seven General Authority Seventies will receive emeritus status effective Aug. 1.

The First Presidency also called eight new General Authority Seventies during the conference.

Primary General Presidency

  • Rosemary K. Chibota — incoming Primary General President.
  • Nina M. Garfield — incoming first counselor.
  • Theresa A. Collins — incoming second counselor.

These appointments take effect Aug. 1, and conferencegoers gave sustaining votes during the session.

Outgoing leaders referenced included Susan H. Porter and Amy A. Wright.

Session proceedings and speakers

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles conducted the session.

Elder Scott D. Whiting offered the opening prayer. Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus offered the closing prayer.

  • Elder Wan-Liang Wu addressed the congregation.
  • Elder Gérald Caussé spoke and participated in sustaining votes.

  • Brother David J. Wunderli spoke on behalf of the Young Men.

Elder Gérald Caussé and Elder Clark G. Gilbert participated in a sustaining vote during the session.

Music and media coverage

Music was provided by a combined choir from Brigham Young University–Idaho.

Choir directors were Atina Coates, Eda Ashby, Paul Busselberg, and Randall Kempton.

Organists included Linda Margetts and Joseph Peeples.
