City Park Reveals Exciting April 4-5 Updates

City Park Conservancy announced temporary traffic and schedule changes for weekend events on April 4 and 5. City Park Reveals Exciting April 4-5 Updates that aim to manage crowds during the Crescent City Classic and Easter activities.

Traffic and road closures

Roosevelt Mall will close at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 4. Additional street closures begin at 7 a.m. that day.

  • Lelong Avenue
  • Friederichs Avenue

Main park roads are expected to reopen between noon and 1 p.m. Several closures remain through Sunday. Streets in the Tricentennial area will stay restricted.

Attraction hours and operations

Certain attractions will open later on Saturday. The following sites will delay opening until 12 p.m.:

  • Carousel Gardens Amusement Park
  • City Putt
  • Louisiana Children’s Museum
  • New Orleans Museum of Art
  • Storyland
  • Wheel Fun Rentals

On Easter Sunday, the City Park Train will not run. The Crescent City Farmers Market will also be closed. The Louisiana Children’s Museum will remain closed that day.

Visitor guidance and park rules

Visitors are asked to bike or walk if possible to ease congestion. The Conservancy urges everyone to remove their trash and leave no litter.

Parking or driving is not allowed on grass or off roadways. It is also prohibited on paved or unpaved jogging and bike paths.

Open flames are banned throughout the park. Barbecue pits and grills may be used, but charcoal and hot material must not be placed in trash receptacles. Dumping charcoal on park grounds is forbidden. Crawfish and seafood boils are not permitted.
