East Coast Clears as Remaining Storms Move Out Tonight

East Coast Clears as Remaining Storms Move Out Tonight

Lingering showers and isolated storms will continue in southeastern counties overnight into early Saturday. Kansas City is expected to be dry by Saturday morning. Dry conditions should reach the rest of the area by mid-morning.

As the East Coast clears, remaining storms move out tonight and into the early hours here. The line of storms is moving quickly, which may limit rainfall totals. Still, flooding remains a concern in parts of the southeast.

Tonight into Saturday morning

Showers and a few storms will taper from southeast to northwest overnight. The faster pace of the line reduces the chance for very high totals compared with earlier in the week. Residents in low-lying areas should remain cautious for localized flooding.

Easter weekend

Saturday

Expect partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies on Saturday. Highs will top out in the mid-50s. Breezy conditions will continue with peak gusts near 30 mph, making it feel cooler.

Sunday

Easter Sunday will be the better day for outdoor plans. Temperatures should rise into the low 60s under mostly sunny skies. Morning frost is possible across rural spots, and grassy areas may be muddy after recent rain.

Next week outlook

Monday starts mostly sunny with a wide temperature range. Morning readings near 39 will climb to about 60 by evening. A 30% chance of showers exists Monday night into Tuesday morning, primarily during the commute.

Wednesday looks briefly dry and notably warmer. Lows may sit near 47 with highs around 72, offering the nicest day next week. Then mild, unsettled weather returns Thursday and Friday.

Showers and thunderstorms are forecast again late in the week. Temperatures should stay near 70 while the pattern becomes more active. Severe weather is not expected with the early-week systems.
