Milwaukee’s Weekly Weather Forecast: Rain, Hail, Thunder, and Snow Expected
Milwaukee faces a highly changeable week of weather starting Monday, March 30. Residents should prepare for rapid swings in conditions from mild sunshine to severe storms.
Short-term timeline
Monday will begin warm with highs near 67 to 71 degrees across Milwaukee County. A warm front will push through late evening, bringing rain between 7 and 9 p.m.
Rain could transition to thunderstorms near midnight. The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan warns some storms may strengthen toward central Wisconsin.
Tuesday into midweek
Rain should taper the morning of Tuesday, March 31. A cold front will follow, bringing another round of showers late morning and early afternoon.
Those late-morning storms could produce strong wind gusts and small hail. Overnight into Wednesday, April 1, precipitation is expected to ease.
Snow chances and weekend outlook
Forecasters say there is a chance of snow on April 1 and 2. Accumulation may occur on grassy surfaces Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Temperatures are forecast near freezing, roughly 30 to 32 degrees. A low-pressure system moving east from the western Rockies could bring additional rain late in the week.
Hazards to watch
- Thunderstorms that may become strong or severe, especially inland.
- Hail is the primary concern, with possible sizes up to 2 inches in diameter.
- Periods of heavy rain and strong winds during frontal passages.
- Light to moderate snow with the potential for brief accumulations on grass.
Preparedness guidance
Taylor Patterson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, urged vigilance. She noted the region is entering a very active weather period with few extended breaks of calm.
Residents should monitor forecasts and alerts closely. Simple steps include carrying an umbrella, allowing extra travel time, and reviewing severe-weather plans.
