Fuel Allowance season changes
The 2025/2026 Fuel Allowance season began on September 22, 2025. It was originally due to finish on April 3, 2026.
The government extended the payment by four weeks in response to rising fuel costs. The new end date is May 1, 2026.
Payments affected by the Easter bank holiday
Easter Monday falls on April 6, 2026. Payments normally scheduled for that day will be made earlier.
Social welfare payments due on April 6 will be released on Friday, April 3, 2026. Child Benefit due on April 7 may also be paid early, on Friday or Saturday.
Carer’s Support Grant — applications and payment
The Carer’s Support Grant replaces the former Respite Care Grant. It is an annual payment for qualifying carers.
The grant will be paid on June 4, 2026. It is automatically paid to certain social welfare recipients.
