Royal Caribbean Unveils World’s Largest Ship, Shattering Size and Amenities Records

Royal Caribbean will open bookings for its newest ship on Thursday, April 2. The vessel, Hero of the Seas, is scheduled to debut late next summer.

Filmogaz.com reports the line positions Hero of the Seas as the world’s largest ship. The vessel aims to shatter size and amenities records for modern cruise vessels.

Class and positioning

Hero of the Seas joins Royal Caribbean’s Icon class. Sister ships include Icon, Legend, and Star of the Seas.

The class focuses on resort-style amenities and family-focused neighborhoods. Royal Caribbean says this new ship expands that approach.

Key features and attractions

The ship offers nine distinct pools. Options range from family zones to adult-only spaces.

Onboard water offerings include Category 6, the line’s largest waterpark at sea. The waterpark features a surf simulator and a high-altitude ropes challenge called Crown’s Edge.

Crown’s Edge and thrill elements

Crown’s Edge combines a skywalk, ropes course, and a final plunge. The descent leaves guests suspended 154 feet above the ocean.

Other active attractions include the Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall and Lost Dunes mini-golf. Sports courts support pickleball, basketball, soccer, and more.

Pools, bars and unique touches

The vessel includes what the line markets as the world’s largest onboard swim-up bar. That venue features an in-water DJ booth.

Nine pools create multiple environments. Guests can choose quiet adult areas or lively family pools.

Dining and culinary programming

Hero of the Seas presents 28 dining venues. Offerings span casual eateries to themed supper clubs.

Highlighted concepts include a New Orleans–inspired supper club. There is also an immersive train-car dining experience called Royal Railway – Hero Station.

Family cooking classes and culinary activities will be available. The dedicated venue for those programs has not been announced.
