Derek Chisora Supports Fury vs. Joshua Bout, Urges Patience for Moses Itauma

Derek Chisora will make his final ring appearance this Saturday. The 42-year-old heavyweight will close a 50-fight career at The O2 against Deontay Wilder.

Farewell fight and career highlights

Chisora’s farewell caps roughly two decades in top-level boxing. His record of opponents includes Tyson Fury, Vitali Klitschko, David Haye and Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk has previously called Chisora one of his toughest tests.

The bout with Wilder is being billed as Chisora’s last. He has suggested Wilder may retire alongside him after their meeting.

Fury’s comeback and the Joshua angle

Tyson Fury is due back in April. He will face Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Chisora supports a Fury-versus-Joshua bout and believes that fight can still be arranged. He predicted Anthony Joshua would win in four or five rounds if the clash happens.

Joshua’s preparations

Anthony Joshua has been working with Oleksandr Usyk in training camps. Chisora praised Joshua’s movement and shot selection while training with Usyk. He said surrounding yourself with elite partners produces higher-level fighters.

New generation: Moses Itauma

Chisora praised the state of British heavyweight boxing. He pointed to 21-year-old Moses Itauma as proof of the division’s depth.

Itauma stopped Jermaine Franklin inside five rounds last weekend. The knockout moved his record to 14-0.

Chisora urged patience for the prospect. He said let Itauma gain rounds, win domestic and regional belts, and enjoy his rise. In his words, the young fighter does not need rushing.
