Elliot Anderson Credits Manager for Transforming His Career: ‘It’s Been Crazy’

Elliot Anderson has moved swiftly from fringe prospect to England starter ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The 23-year-old Nottingham Forest midfielder has secured the No.6 role after six international appearances.

Early tactical switch

His deep-lying midfield role began during an under-21 internal session under Lee Carsley. At St George’s he moved from a left-ten role into a deeper position.

He later helped his side to European Championship glory while observers, including Thomas Tuchel, watched.

International breakthrough

Tuchel named him in the squad ahead of September qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia. Since then he has made six appearances and formed a strong partnership with Declan Rice.

Recognition and rest

He was given the first half of the current international window off to rest. He rested alongside Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

Transfer links and mindset

He has been linked with a reported £100million move to Manchester City this summer. Asked about selection he said being left out of a late game did not unsettle him.

He described the period as fast-moving and said he is taking it in his stride.

Elliot Anderson credits his manager for transforming his career, saying ‘It’s been crazy’. He hopes to keep performing to secure a place at the World Cup.
