Plot overview

Victoria Hamilton stars as Helen Simpson, a teacher with three decades of experience. Helen openly rejects the “woke” ideologies she sees in some younger people.

A prominent pupil, Cressida Bancroft, clashes with Helen after being accused of playing to an audience. Cressida then campaigns to turn public opinion against Helen.

The conflict escalates toward Helen’s family, including her son Sam. As Helen investigates Cressida’s history, she uncovers neglect and sadness. The story asks whether Helen can stop Cressida’s last act of revenge.
