FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed Iran’s World Cup spot during a visit to Antalya, Turkey. He attended Iran’s friendly against Costa Rica and spoke to the team.

The embassy message said Iran was negotiating with FIFA to play its World Cup fixtures in Mexico. FIFA reiterated ongoing talks with member associations.
