Las Vegas Wraps March with Strong Winds and Showers

A storm from the north will bring gusty winds and a chance of light showers to Southern Nevada. National Weather Service meteorologist Ashley Nickerson says most rain will arrive late tonight and continue into early Wednesday.

Rain chances and timing

The NWS gives a 40 percent chance of light showers across Southern Nevada. Most precipitation is expected after 10 p.m. and tapering off by 4 a.m.

Nickerson said many locations may only get enough to form small puddles. Only a few areas could see measurable totals.

Winds, dust advisory and impacts

A wind advisory begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 a.m. Wednesday. Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph are forecast, with gusts up to 50 mph.

The gusty conditions could move unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs, and produce isolated power outages. Clark County’s Division of Air Quality issued a dust advisory from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Recent precipitation and temperatures

The recent heat dome left Southern Nevada without measurable rainfall so far this March. The last rainless March before this one was 2014, Nickerson said.

  • Las Vegas precipitation: 0.02 inches in 2025.
  • Las Vegas precipitation: 0.74 inches in 2024.
  • March monthly average: 0.42 inches.
  • No measurable precipitation since Feb. 16, Presidents Day.

Highs will remain in the upper 70s the rest of the week. Friday’s forecast high is 74, the coolest since March 8, when it reached 73.

Context
