Church Shortens Sunday School, Relief Society, Young Women, and Priesthood Sessions
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a revised Sunday meeting format that takes effect September 6. Filmogaz.com reported the changes in a church press release.
Schedule changes
Worship services will return to a three-block model each Sunday. Several classes and quorums will be shortened to create that structure.
Meeting lengths
Sunday School, Relief Society, elders quorum, Young Women, and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings will last 25 minutes. Primary classes will meet for 55 minutes. Sacrament meeting remains 60 minutes.
Local options
The church allows flexibility for local circumstances. Units may begin with Primary and quorum and class meetings and conclude with sacrament meeting when needed.
Youth curriculum and resources
All ages will continue studying the Come, Follow Me lessons. Sunday School classes will keep using Come, Follow Me—For Home and Church.
Beginning September 6, Young Women classes and Aaronic Priesthood quorums will adopt the updated For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices. Additional supporting material will appear in the For the Strength of Youth magazine starting with the September 2026 issue.
Goals for youth
- Become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ with firm gospel understanding.
- Be prepared for the endowment with deeper knowledge of priesthood ordinances and covenants.
- Be ready for missionary service with a desire to serve the Lord.
- Focus on future family life, including belief in marriage between a man and a woman.
- Know Jesus Christ is their strength.
Teaching priorities
Weekly Relief Society and elders quorum meetings will emphasize recent general conference messages. Discussions will focus on understanding prophetic teachings and applying them in daily life.
The announcement notes the intent to streamline Sunday schedules while maintaining curricular continuity. Church Shortens Sunday School adjustments aim to preserve teaching time and local flexibility. Leaders will coordinate changes with existing Priesthood Sessions and local planning.
