Register to Vote for May Local Election
Enfield residents are being urged to confirm their voter status ahead of the local election on Thursday 7 May. Officials stress early action to avoid missing key deadlines.
Registering to vote and key deadlines
To Register to Vote for May Local Election, eligible residents must sign up online. Registration normally takes around five minutes and can be completed at gov.uk.
The deadline to register is Monday 20 April at 11.59pm. Do not wait until the last day to avoid problems.
Ways to cast a ballot and timing
Voters can cast their ballot in person at a polling station, by post, or via a proxy voter. Each method has its own application deadline.
- Apply for a postal vote by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April. You must be registered before applying.
- Apply for a proxy vote by Tuesday 28 April.
- The deadline to request a voter authority certificate is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April.
Photo ID rules at polling stations
Anyone voting in person, including a proxy, must present a physical form of photo ID. A photograph or copy on a phone will not be accepted.
Approved digital IDs are limited to specific schemes, such as veterans’ cards or eVisas. If you lack acceptable ID, you can apply for a free voter authority certificate.
