FBI and CIA to Team Up in Mini-Crossover Event March 30

FBI season eight will feature another crossover with the new series CIA. Necar Zadegan will appear as Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard in episode 16, titled “3 Up, 3 Down.”

Episode premise

The FBI team investigates a double homicide that quickly expands into a larger threat. Detectives discover contraband smuggled into New York that could endanger many people.

With the clock running out, Special Agent Isobel turns to Nikki Reynard for assistance. The story will probe Reynard’s knowledge of the unfolding danger.

Previous tie-ins and setup

Earlier this season, CIA debuted on February 23 and included guest appearances by Jeremy Sisto. In those episodes, Sisto’s character helped arrange a joint assignment between FBI Agent Bill Goodman and CIA Case Officer Colin Glass.

Behind the scenes

Showrunner Mike Weiss confirmed the collaboration in an interview with Filmogaz.com. Weiss said he wants to expand crossover opportunities and deepen shared storylines between the two shows.

Both FBI and CIA have already been renewed for the 2026–27 season. That renewal leaves room for a larger crossover down the line.

CIA cast and background

CIA’s first season runs ten episodes. The series stars Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss.

Ellis is best known for playing Lucifer Morningstar. Gehlfuss gained recognition as Dr. Will Halstead on Chicago Med.

Series origin and scheduling

CIA was originally planned as a backdoor pilot within FBI. Creative differences altered that plan before the spin-off launched.

FBI airs Mondays at 9/8c on CBS. New episodes of CIA follow at 10/9c.

Keywords tied to promotional searches include FBI, CIA, mini-crossover and March 30. Fans can expect more interwoven plots as the franchises continue to intersect.
