RTE’s Hit Series Returns with Season Five on Good Friday
Filmogaz.com reports RTE’s hit series returns on Good Friday as Season Five arrives. The Young Offenders will debut new episodes on the RTE Player on April 3.
Episodes will also air weekly on RTE One from Saturday, April 4 at 10.30pm. UK viewers will see the show on April 3.
Cast and characters
The original lead duo have returned. Chris Walley reprises Jock O’Keeffe and Alex Murphy returns as Conor MacSweeney.
Hilary Rose is back as Mairéad MacSweeney. Other returning cast members include Shane Casey, Demi Issac-Oviawe, Dominic MacHale, Jennifer Barry, Danny Power, PJ Gallagher and Orla Fitzgerald.
Season five storylines
Season Five reunites Conor and Jock after a disastrous brush with the law. They spent time in jail on two different continents.
Jock escapes back from Colombia to Cork. The pair quickly fall into their old ways and cause chaos.
Conor faces the threat of losing his love. Jock works to rebuild his relationship with Star.
Locals join their wild plans to improve lives. Those plans force the characters into big risks.
Production notes and availability
The series is produced by Vico Films for the BBC, in association with RTE. The first four seasons remain available to stream on the RTE Player.
Creator Peter Foott marked the show’s tenth anniversary since the film release. He said he was pleased to bring new, chaotic and heart-warming stories to long-time fans.
Justin Healy, Executive Producer for RTE, described the new run as the best series yet. He praised its combination of comedy drama, big heart, and brilliantly bad behaviour.
