’70s Yacht Rock Legend Dies at 85, Producer Pays Tribute
Darrell “Dash” Crofts has died at age 85, his longtime producer Louie Shelton announced early Thursday. Shelton posted a message and photo on Facebook mourning his friend and musical partner.

Crofts began as a drummer with Dean Beard and the Crew Cats. He met Jim Seals while playing in that scene.
Both men later joined The Champs after the band’s hit “Tequila.” They then formed the duo Seals & Crofts and developed a distinct melodic style.
