LeBron James Sets NBA Record; Durant Surpasses Jordan on Scoring List

Two major NBA milestones came on the same night. Each featured veteran star power and dramatic finishes.

LeBron James sets NBA record by appearing in his 1,612th regular-season game. The mark moved him past Robert Parish’s long-standing total.

The Los Angeles Lakers won 105-104 in a late comeback over Orlando. The victory extended the Lakers’ streak to nine straight wins.

James finished with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. He marked the night with special sneakers stitched with “1,612.”

Paolo Banchero led seven Magic players in double figures with 16 points. Banchero appeared to block a shot off James with 4.7 seconds left.

Replay review found the ball did not deflect off LeBron’s foot. Los Angeles kept possession and closed the game.

Marcus Smart delivered a pass to Luke Kennard. Kennard hit a three with 0.6 seconds left for the win.

Luka Doncic scored 33 points on the same night. He was also assessed a 16th technical foul, which can trigger an automatic suspension.

Coach JJ Redick praised James’ longevity and preparation. He credited LeBron’s routine, recovery, and love for the game.

Kevin Durant moved past Michael Jordan into fifth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. He reached 32,294 career points.

The Rockets beat the Miami Heat 123-122 on a last-second play. Durant’s late three-pointer bounced off the rim.

Amen Thompson then tipped the ball in as time expired. The tip-in sealed Houston’s victory.

Durant scored 27 points in the game. He briefly lifted his arms after the three-pointer that pushed him past Jordan.

Durant, age 37, described the achievement as meaningful. He said he still has work to do.

Bam Adebayo posted 32 points and 21 rebounds. The rebound total matched his career high.

The Heat took a 122-121 lead with 5.4 seconds remaining. They dropped a fourth straight game despite the late lead.

Adebayo earlier produced an 83-point outing on March 10. That performance ranks among the highest individual scoring games in NBA history.
