What the director said at CinemaCon
Speaking at CinemaCon last year, Gyllenhaal described her reasons for following The Lost Daughter with The Bride!: “I was looking for ‘something pop and big and I wanted it to be radical at the same time. I was at this party and saw this guy with the Bride of Frankenstein tattooed on his arm… It hooked me…”. She contrasted her version with the original, noting, “In the original, the bride is in the movie for about three minutes and doesn’t speak, which could not be more different than ours. ” Gyllenhaal added, “I’m really interested in monsters, and I think that all of us have a little aspect of something monstrous in us. Monsters in our movie do monstrous things, but they’re also our heroes. ”
The Bride! is set in 1930s Chicago, where a lonely Frankenstein asks Dr. Euphronious to create a companion and, together, they revive a murdered young woman known as “The Bride. ” The film’s period setting and central characters were part of the conversation at the London premiere.
Warner Bros. is scheduled to release The Bride! in theaters across the United States on March 6. With the global premiere complete, the next confirmed milestone for the film is that U. S. theatrical release date.
