Tori Amos introduces her new album as tori amos shares single "Stronger Together"
tori amos has shared "Stronger Together, " the first single from the album she formally announced back in January, In Times of Dragons. The single features her daughter Tash on backing vocals, and Amos has begun performing the song live as part of promotion for the forthcoming concept record.
Studio single rollout and Tash's role on the track
Amos released "Stronger Together" as the lead single from In Times of Dragons, which she formally announced in January. On the recorded track, her daughter Tash sings backup, and listeners are invited to "take a listen" to the new material. One write-up described the single as a duet in its presentation, noting the presence of Tash alongside Amos on the song.
Tori Amos outlines In Times of Dragons' story and themes
Amos has framed In Times of Dragons as a narrative that "parables the current dangerous times we are in—where democracy itself is on the line. " In her description, the protagonist is fleeing from a character identified as her "sadistic billionaire Lizard Demon husband. " In that flight she encounters people she had not been allowed to see in years, people who had not wanted to see her because of the relationship she had found herself in.
To avoid being captured and dragged back to the Lizard Demon's penthouse, the character runs to the deep south of the US to throw him and his henchman off her trail. One of the many characters the protagonist meets on the journey is named The Daughter; Amos says, "We spend time and sing together. "
Live debut at the Radio 2 Piano Room in Maida Vale Studios
Following the single's release, Amos turned up in the Radio 2 Piano Room at London's Maida Vale Studios for a special performance supporting the new LP. Backed by a Concert Orchestra, she played her classic "Cornflake Girl, " covered the Rolling Stones' "Beast Of Burden, " and gave "Stronger Together" its live debut.
She rounded the set with a cover of Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'. " One reaction line offered, "They really are, Tori. " The sequence of events in coverage noted that Amos shared the single yesterday and performed it live today.
Release timing: spring arrival and a May 1 date
In Times of Dragons is being presented as a concept album arriving this spring; promotional notes state that the album will arrive on May 1. Fans are asked to stay tuned for "all that and more" when the record is released on that date.
What listeners can expect from the new material and performances
The single and the Maida Vale performance emphasize the record's narrative ambition and Amos's willingness to mix originals and covers in support of the new LP. On record, Tash provides backup vocals; in press descriptions the single is also described as a duet that pairs Amos and Tash together. The live set paired the new material's debut with established songs "Cornflake Girl" and covers of "Beast Of Burden" and "The Times They Are A-Changin'. "
If you are in the UK, coverage notes you can watch the full Maida Vale Piano Room performance there; the single itself is available to listen to now ahead of the album's May 1 arrival.
