Metallica Sphere Las Vegas Residency Life Burns Faster Is Official: Dates, Tickets, and Everything to Know
Metallica Sphere Las Vegas

Metallica has confirmed what fans have long suspected. The legendary thrash metal band officially announced their Las Vegas Sphere residency on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 ET, becoming the first metal band in history to perform at the $2.3 billion immersive venue. The eight-show Metallica Sphere run, titled Life Burns Faster, spans four October weekends and features the band's signature No Repeat Weekends format.

Metallica Sphere Las Vegas Dates: Four Weekends, Eight Historic Shows

The Metallica Las Vegas Sphere residency opens on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with shows continuing on October 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 31. The final night falls on Halloween — October 31 — making it one of the most anticipated single concert dates in rock history. All eight performances will take place at Sphere Las Vegas, the venue that redefined the live concert experience when it opened in 2023.

The Metallica Sphere residency is produced by Live Nation and presented by inKind. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo join an elite group of artists — U2, Eagles, Dead & Company, Phish, and No Doubt — who have graced the Sphere stage.

No Repeat Weekends: Every Metallica Las Vegas Sphere Show Is Unique

The Metallica Las Vegas Sphere residency continues the No Repeat Weekends format the band pioneered during their M72 World Tour. Each Thursday and Saturday pairing within a single weekend features a completely unique setlist — no song is repeated across both nights. Fans who attend both shows in any given weekend experience two entirely distinct Metallica performances.

Setlists will span the full Metallica catalog, from early thrash classics to material from their 2023 album 72 Seasons. Guitarist Kirk Hammett has publicly confirmed he has 767 new riffs in progress for a future album, keeping anticipation high around what surprises the band might debut at Sphere Las Vegas.

Lars Ulrich on the Metallica Sphere Decision

Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich said the idea was locked in almost immediately after watching U2 open the venue in 2023. Ulrich stated that within about 12 seconds of U2's opening night at Sphere, he knew Metallica had to perform there, calling it completely uncharted territory. He described the band as beyond excited and confirmed the residency gives them another chance to reinvent how they interact with their fans in a live setting.

The Metallica Sphere Las Vegas announcement came after months of open speculation, with Ulrich himself having previously stated publicly that he would love to do a Sphere residency, and Trujillo noting the possibilities at the venue were endless.
