Scrubs Revival Returns: Old Gang Back — and Now They’re in Charge
The revival of scrubs has brought Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke back to Sacred Heart for a new season, with the first two episodes premiering back-to-back Wednesday on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu. The return matters now because the cast not only reunites but appears positioned in new roles of authority within the hospital setting.
Scrubs Premiere on ABC and Hulu
The first two episodes of the revived series will air back-to-back on ABC on Wednesday and will stream the following day on Hulu, with a date tied to Feb. 22 in the rollout materials. The scheduling places the launch on broadcast television first, then moves the episodes to streaming within roughly 24 hours.
Inside the Rebuilt Sacred Heart Hospital
Architectural Digest hosted a behind-the-scenes tour that features Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke walking through a rebuilt Sacred Heart Hospital. Production designer Roger Fires was tasked with building a 100% accurate sound stage recreation after the demolition of the original filming location, the North Hollywood Medical Centre, which prompted the reconstruction on a sound stage.
Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke on Set
All the doctors from Sacred Heart are back on ABC for the reboot, and the revival emphasizes familiar faces returning to the series. The public materials show the principal trio — Braff, Faison and Chalke — leading the cast through storylines that reflect their renewed presence at the center of the hospital’s operation. What makes this notable is that these longtime characters are presented not just as cameos but as figures with expanded responsibilities in the new season.
Disney Released Promotional Images Featuring Ensemble
Promotional imagery released by Disney shows multiple cast pairings and groupings: Donald Faison with Zach Braff; Zach Braff with John C. McGinley; John C. McGinley with Joel Kim Booster; Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke and Judy Reyes together; Sarah Chalke with Zach Braff; and John C. McGinley with Vanessa Bayer. Those frames reinforce that legacy cast members and additional performers share screen time in the revival.
Additional Notes: Sabathia, Baseball Bar-B-Cast, NFL Combine and Other Items
Coverage around the revival included several unrelated items that appeared alongside the Scrubs reporting. Sabathia's number will be the 23rd the club retires. An NBA Hall of Famer said he woke up covered in his own blood. On an episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman are joined by Yuri Karasawa to preview all the international teams for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Andrew Siciliano is joined by Jori Epstein and Charles Robinson to cover the latest news coming out of the NFL Combine. A Boston Bruins standout goalie emphasized that he and his teammates have "so much respect" for the gold medal-winning U. S. women's team. Full Circle, the developer of the new live-service version of Skate, is laying off staff. Donald Trump drew laughs from the men’s team when he said he’d have to invite the women’s team to the White House too, or he’d be impeached. One observer noted they picked up both the HD and 4K versions to see how much life they could squeeze out of older TVs. Oliver's 8-year-old son got into baseball last season and became a big Alonso fan.
The rebuilt Sacred Heart, the rapid broadcast-to-streaming schedule and the roster of returning performers together frame a revival that leans on nostalgia while changing dynamics within the hospital. Because the original North Hollywood Medical Centre was demolished, the production rebuilt the environment precisely on a sound stage, making the set recreation the tangible cause that enabled familiar locations to reappear for the new season.
