Laura Ann Tull and Grey's Anatomy: Ex-Background Actress Goes Viral Over Eric Dane Bullying Claims

A former Grey's Anatomy background actress named Laura Ann Tull has become one of the most talked-about names in entertainment this week — after using social media to publicly accuse the late Eric Dane of on-set bullying just days after the beloved actor's death from ALS.

Who Is Laura Ann Tull?

Laura Ann Tull is a SAG-AFTRA actress, screenwriter, casting agent, filmmaker, poet, journalist, and former entertainment lawyer. She studied theater arts at McDaniel College and went on to study communication, copyright, and entertainment law at the Catholic University's Columbus School of Law. Her acting credits include Beauty, Chemical 13, and A.B.S.

Tull worked as a background performer on Grey's Anatomy for approximately three years beginning in 2005, during the same period Eric Dane played Dr. Mark Sloan on the hit ABC medical drama.

What Did Laura Ann Tull Say About Eric Dane?

Laura Tull, who says she worked on the Grey's Anatomy set for a few years beginning in 2005, shared multiple messages on Threads following news of Dane's death on Thursday, February 19. "He was a bully an a hole," she wrote.

In subsequent posts, she alleged that Dane mocked her on set, spoke about her behind her back, and contributed to what she describes as long-term professional and personal harm. "He was a coward who abused me. Bullied me. Made fun of me. When I had beaten cancer. When I was getting sick with an autoimmune disease. He was a stuck on himself narcissist. I was a girl who just wanted to be an actor and be good at it. But I really didn't care for Beverly Hills or the sham of glam of Hollywood. His dying doesn't change the destruction he caused me," she wrote.

The Biggest Claim: "I Am Why He Was Fired From Grey's"

Tull made an even more explosive claim, writing: "I am why he was fired from Grey's," alleging she contacted the office of Shonda Rhimes before Dane's departure was announced. "I called Rhimes' assistant two weeks before they announced his termination," Tull wrote. "Rhimes I doubt will ever admit that."

The claim stands in direct conflict with the public record. There is no public record supporting Tull's claim that she influenced Dane's departure from Grey's Anatomy. Industry reporting at the time of Dane's 2012 exit pointed to budget and creative decisions, as long-running cast members had become more expensive for the network.

Dane himself told Entertainment Weekly in 2012 that "I think I just wasn't the same guy they had hired," referring to personal struggles including a 2011 stint in rehab for painkiller addiction following a sports injury. Shonda Rhimes confirmed it was mutual, praising Dane's contributions but noting the need to advance the plot.

This Is Not the First Time

The comments echo themes Tull previously shared in a 2018 Medium post, where she described her time working in Hollywood and referenced Dane by name. In that essay, she said she never directly spoke to him on set but believed he had spoken negatively about her to others. "I worked on set of Grey's Anatomy for three years as an extra, but I never spoke to Dane once directly," she wrote. "But I did hear him talk about me."

The Backlash — and a GoFundMe Pause

The backlash against Laura Ann Tull has been substantial, with many users criticizing the timing of the posts given Dane's family — including his two daughters — was in mourning.

Beyond social media fallout, the situation has had administrative consequences: a GoFundMe campaign established for Dane's daughters was put on hold while questions prompted a review.

Neither ABC, Shondaland, nor Dane's representatives have issued any comment supporting or acknowledging Tull's allegations.
