Snoop Dogg performed private gig in Swansea canteen before home debut
Snoop Dogg attended his first Swansea City home game and earlier performed a private, invitation-only hour-long DJ set in a company canteen, staff said. The rapper and co-owner’s visit included a pre-match lap of honour at the Swansea. com Stadium and a guard of honour before kick-off.
Private canteen set
Staff at a business in Swansea described it as "absolutely nuts" when the American rapper Snoop Dogg performed a full hour private set of "back to back classics" in their canteen. The appearance was invitation-only and took place at the Au Vodka headquarters in the city, where the canteen had been used for ping pong and pool just 24 hours earlier before being transformed into a nightclub for more than 400 guests.
Au Vodka owners react
Au Vodka co-owner Jackson Quinn said: "We will all remember this until we are looking back on this in our 80s saying 'I can't believe Snoop played in our office'. " Quinn added that the global star was only meant to do a DJ set originally but the performance turned into "an hour of back to back classics", amid cheers from the crowd, and told Radio Wales Drive: "We couldn't ask for anything better. "
Co-owner Charlie Morgan described the gig as "really last minute but almost every member of their staff was there", along with friends, family and local influencers. The appearance came about through the pair's business partner and DJ Charlie Sloth, who they said has access to "the hip hop rap world".
Snoop Dogg's pre-match reception
Snoop Dogg later arrived at the Swansea. com Stadium for the club's match with Preston North End, making his first appearance for the club on Tuesday. He joined the Swansea ownership group last July and is a minority owner of the Championship club alongside the television host Martha Stewart and Croatia international Luka Modric.
The celebrity visit followed Snoop's stint at the Winter Olympics, where he served as Team USA's honorary coach and was a special correspondent for NBC. The visit had generated huge interest, with a 21, 000 record crowd expected for the Tuesday clash with Preston.
Guard of honour and lap of honour
Snoop had requested the crowd be in their seats to twirl complimentary towels, a staple action in American sports, and took to the field through a guard of honour made up of 20 youngsters representing Wales at the 2026 Street Child World Cup in North America. Dressed in the club's all-white colours with a Swansea crest on his jacket, dark glasses and a beanie hat, he made a pre-match lap of honour as fans twirled towels with rock music booming in the background.
He saluted the fans, shook hands with some, and had photographs taken with others. The club mascot, Cyril the Swan, even got a hug. He eventually disappeared down the tunnel seven minutes later, just before a light show started prior to kick-off.
Guests, programme and local impact
Among the guests at the Au Vodka event were Welsh boxer Joe Cordina and former Swans striker Lee Trundle. Speaking on the impact of Snoop Dogg's investment in Swansea City and on local businesses in Swansea, Quinn said: "It's amazing for putting Swansea on the map. That's something we actively aim to do all the time. He's a global name and maybe one of the most famous people in the world. "
Morgan and Sloth said they would both be attending the game that night and were "hopeful for a win". Snoop Dogg also appears as the cover star of the club's latest digital matchday programme for the Tuesday night game. The programme includes an interview with Lawrence Vigouroux reflecting on Swansea's upturn in form under Vitor Matos, the latest news from the Swansea City AFC Foundation, views of chief executive Tom Gorringe and head coach Matos, and a guide to the visitors as Paul Heckingbottom brings North End to SA1.
