Unicoi County pivots to remote learning and meal pickup

Unicoi County Schools will not hold in-person classes Monday and will begin virtual learning at 10 a. m. The district is providing meals for students: lunches will be available for pickup at either Unicoi Elementary or Unicoi High School between 11 a. m. and 1 p. m., and students can go to whichever school is closer to them.

Hazard warnings: expected accumulations, wind and slippery roads

A winter weather advisory warns of "occasional snow showers through Monday night, " with accumulations of up to 4 inches expected and even higher totals at the top of Great Smoky Mountains peaks. The advisory notes it will be very cold and windy and cautions, "Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. "
