Haylie Duff as Hilary Duff Ends Nearly 11-Year Studio Drought with New Album

Hilary Duff released Luck… or Something at the stroke of midnight, her sixth studio album and her first since Breathe In. Breathe Out in June 2015 — haylie duff.

A decade between studio albums

Luck… or Something arrives almost 11 years after Duff’s previous studio record, and the new LP contains 11 songs, including the previously released singles “Mature” and “Roommates. ” The project is Duff’s first release through Atlantic Records and marks a return to songwriting and recording she described as powerful and necessary: “here’s that question of whether women can have it all, and through this process I learned I had to sacrifice some things in order to put the record firs. As hard as that is, I still believe it’s okay to choose yourself sometimes and do what scares the hell out of you. ”

The record is framed by concrete life anchors: Duff says the songs were shaped by “the chaos and clarity of motherhood, marriage, and finding herself in her 30s. ” She co-wrote the album and worked with producers Matthew Koma and Brian Phillips; Koma, Duff’s husband, also co-produced and has past pop production credits. Critics have noted a shift in sound from her last record, emphasizing chirpy synths and strummy acoustic pop over the ultra-processed dance textures of 2015 — haylie duff appears here only as a name in context of the release.

Touring worldwide: West Palm Beach kicks it off

Duff will support Luck… or Something with her first full-scale global headline tour in almost two decades. The itinerary includes dates across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The run gets underway with a two-night stand in West Palm Beach, FL on June 21 and 22 and will continue through February 2027, giving the new material an extended live rollout.

Duff has also placed the new album in the context of a long chart history: she is on a streak of five consecutive top 10 appearances on the main albums chart, with two past No. 1s — 2003’s Metamorphosis (one week) and 2005’s Most Wanted (two weeks) — and seven titles on the main singles chart across her career.

Musically, the album was described by one reviewer as moving away from the thumping theatrics of the mid-2010s toward brighter, more organic pop foundations; the review points to gated drum fills, swoopy strings and a vocal tone that sits comfortably in the brighter corners of contemporary pop. Duff acknowledged carving out time to make the album after many years and said, “carving out the time to make an album after all these years was incredibly powerful for me, and now I can’t wait to share it with the world. ”

Luck… or Something is available for listeners now and will be showcased live beginning with the West Palm Beach dates in June. The tour schedule runs into February 2027 and represents Duff’s most extensive headline outing in nearly twenty years.
