“I feel no Olympic spirit here in Livigno,” Smith remarked. Her concerns extend beyond just the ambiance. A promise of a spectator stand has gone unfulfilled, adding to her frustration.

Missing Medal Ceremony

Another major disappointment for Smith is the absence of an evening medal ceremony. She fondly remembers receiving her bronze medal in Pyeongchang in 2018 amidst cheers from hundreds of fans. “It’s unfortunate that an event like the Olympics lacks such important moments,” she expressed.

Course Design Controversy

Smith’s dissatisfaction continues with the skicross course itself. “There’s nothing special about it; it’s too easy,” she commented. For Smith, who thrives on technical challenges, this design is particularly disheartening. Despite some modifications after testing earlier this year, she feels the course still lacks difficulty.

All athletes, regardless of gender, agree on one thing: the snow’s slow speed makes racing particularly strenuous. “You have to work from top to bottom,” Fiva explained. This is expected to remain a challenge as they prepare for the upcoming races.
